I’M NOSTALGIC OVER A SONG ABOUT NOSTALGIA

Yo I noticed that today I was featured at ArtistADay.com, which is a cool website that, well, features an artist a day. :D
It’s really quite a cool website, ya’ll should register and check it out - there’s a HUGE archive of artists, as well as a rating system (rate an artist a day!) and it’s generally an excellent resource to find pile of cool art - everything ranging from paintings to design to sculpture. I was very happy to be selected!
AHHHH OMG look what I got!!! THIS IS THE ORIGINAL of this utterly gorgeous Sherlock ink drawing by toerning aka Leela, titled “A No-Patch Kind of Day.”
When I saw it online I absolutely HAD TO HAVE IT, I would’ve been okay with just a print but then I asked her if I could buy the original sketch and she was awesome about it! We worked something out and she mailed it right away. It is on very delicate sketch paper and I really have to frame it immediately and treasure it forever sdfsdfdsf THE ORIGINAL GUYS, I can’t tell you how much I love it, how effortless the marks are… I took some detail shots, really every stroke is perfect LEELA YOU’RE GREAT

^ THIS MESSAGE TOO, go visit her right now
I was going to stay in on Friday night like the lame person that I usually am… but it’s Victo’s birthday today and I should go see her and I wanted to show off my Irene Adler nails anyway.
I’ve been slowly but surely working on a FAQ page, but I feel really bad about not answering askbox messages fast enough - however! Today I realized that it’s actually great to answer questions through Facebook - it’s quick and dirty and the person instantly gets a notification for any comment I make on their post. Really quite convenient! So, I’d appreciate if you’d like my page and direct any specific questions or concerns there! You can also nag me about your commission(s) there. :) Thank you darlings for your support as always.
| Me: | Yo don't hand me drinks over my laptop next time, you know I'm really clumsy. |
| Bf: | Yeah but I have this ongoing fantasy where you'll drop a drink on your laptop and it will explode in a fiery mess and you won't be able to go on Tumblr and I will be #1 in your heart... finally. |
| Me: | ... |
| Me: | You'll still have to compete with Sherlock, though. |
| Bf: | Hey, not after tonight! :D |

GUYS… GUYS. DO YOU REALIZE… WHAT THIS IS??
This is my tailored, custom-made Sherlock coat. THAT’S RIGHT.
I brought like 8000 photos of the coat to my mom’s tailor while I was in China last month, and I got measured and he said he would reproduce it to the best of his abilities. The fabric is not EXACTLY right (it’s sort of a dark grey cashmere blend, not the wool tweed, couldn’t find that), BUT EVERYTHING ELSE IS PERFECT IMO. HE EVEN GOT THE RED BUTTON HOLE IN THE COLLAR…. sdlfkjdlsf… and the sweeping folds in the back… all the pockets… omg. And it was ludicrously cheap for a custom-made job, like barely over $100 USD. (YES.)
Unfortunately he couldn’t finish it before I left, SO I DON’T ACTUALLY HAVE IT RIGHT NOW, but my mom just sent over these photos of it, and my brain exploded. When I actually get the coat I think I will huddle in it while I cry all my Reichenbach tears.
SHERLOCK NYC!! Oh man! Hello to everyone I met yesterday! Please feel free to send me a message if you were there / I saw you / you saw me / etc!
So for those who don’t know, yesterday I went to the SherlockNYC event - basically an NYC-based gathering of Sherlock fans organized by the amazing sherlockwhovian and aubre-rose (as well as many other dedicated volunteers and some amazing art by reapersun) - they put together a luncheon, first season screening, and an afterparty and it was basically the best Sherlock-fest ever. There were at least a hundred fans there, so many black coats and cat jumpers and blue scarves - man, I’m nerding out just thinking about it. It was GREAT!
Aaand I just want to thank EVERYONE for being SO nice to me. I mean seriously, I signed up at the LAST minute like an asshole and they were so accommodating anyway - I was treated like royalty and introduced as “Guest of Honor” and they gave me a VIP ticket sdfdsfsdf awesome. And so many people recognized me from Tumblr/dA that my friend made fun of me the entire time for being a big-name nerd. I’M NOT EVEN SORRY - I felt awkward but in an awesome way. Oh, and I did a piece of art for the event too which I’ll be posting shortly!!
MOST sadly, I only made the luncheon and part of the screening, as I was actually sick to death (actually had a coughing fit in the middle of the first episode, SO sorry to everyone I disturbed!!) and had to go home early. I had every intention of coming back but in the end I couldn’t. So please, if you were there for the whole thing, I would love any descriptions of what happened (I left right around the end of A Study in Pink) - I know they raffled off the poster I did when I was gone, and I don’t even know who won! Share stories please!! And if you have photos and links to recap posts or something - I’d love to see them too! Use the (stupid) Tumblr FanMail thing if you have to.
And now, to lie in wait for Hounds!!
